Grand Prix Excitement

We ate at a great restaurant last night, Fino, in Montreal.

It is Grand Prix weekend here, tourists from all over the world come in for this fun filled weekend.

So I was out with a group of friends, and we met a whole bunch of people from Mexico City, Spain and New York City. They know how to party. The shots were flowing, we danced in the restaurant. Everyone had a great time.

I discovered this restaurant last week. It has been open for about one year now. Food is excellent, Anthony the manager knows how to treat his customers properly.

Restaurants today, need to understand that competition is stiff. Customers want to be catered to, we want to be told the truth about a dish. If I ask a waiter what they recommend, I want an honest answer. I also appreciate when restaurants will change things slightly to accommodate  individuals eating habits. If the food is made fresh to order, and someone asks for no oil, or no cheese, and the order comes to the table properly that is a great start.

We had risotto, salmon, lamb shanks, tuna tartare, tuna tataki and much more.

One important fact that I did learn putting Montreal Cooks and Cooking With Canada’s Best together, was that chefs work very hard in their professions. They have an incredible passion for what they do. The secret to wonderful food is using fresh ingredients, excellent quality oils, vinegars, fresh herbs, and homemade stocks.

So enjoy eating out now and then.

I had the mushroom risotto and the tuna tataki. The tuna was perfectly seasoned and the risotto was outstanding. Definitely one of the best I have eaten.
